Welcome:
Student 1-
God morning teachers, parents and friends and welcome to our liturgy today on Holy Thursday. As we prepare to celebrate this wonderful liturgy we begin by entering into a new movement. As this liturgy begins, Lent has ended and we will reflect on our experiences during this period as we celebrate this Easter time. Our 40 days of Lent helped us prepare to celebrate the Paschal Mystery with mind and heart renewed. Holy Thursday takes us to the heart of the gift and to our mission. Please join our opening hymn “Hearts on fire”.
Gathering Hymn:
“Hearts on Fire” by Michael Mangan.
During this song the eight symbols including the cross, candle, bible, bread, wine, bucket of water, towel and tablecloth will be brought forward and displayed at the front of the room by eight students.
Opening Prayer:
Student 2-
Let us begin today’s prayer with the sign of our faith: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Let us pray: Lord, as we prepare to enter the mystery of these three most holy days, we ask you to illumine our minds and hearts with the hope and promise of Christ’s passion, death and resurrection. Give us eyes to see Him in the breaking of the bread and hearts that reach out to Him in service to one another. We ask you this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Gospel (JB): John
13:1-15
A reading from the holy Gospel
according to John
It was before the festival of the Passover, and Jesus knew that the
hour had come for him to pass from this world to the Father. He had always loved
those who were his in the world, but now he showed how perfect his love was.
They were at supper, and the devil had
already put it into the mind of Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray him.
Jesus knew the hour that the Father had put everything into his hands, and that
he had come from God and was returning to God, and he got up from table, removed
his outer garment and, taking a towel, wrapped it round his waist; he then
poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them
with the towel he was wearing.
He came to Simon Peter, who said to him,
‘Lord, are you going to wash my feet?’ Jesus answered, ‘At the moment you do not
know what I am doing, but later you will understand.’ ‘Never!’ said Peter ‘You
shall never wash my feet.’ Jesus replied, ‘If I do not wash you, you can have
nothing in common with me.’ ‘Then, Lord,’ said Simon Peter ‘not only my feet,
but my hands and my head as well!’ Jesus said, ‘No one who has taken a bath
needs washing, he is clean all over. You too are clean, though not all of you
are.’ He knew who was going to betray him, that was why he said, ‘though not all
of you are.’
When he had washed their feet and put on his
clothes again he went back to the table. ‘Do you understand’ he said ‘what I
have done to you? You call me Master and Lord, and rightly; so I am. If I, then,
the Lord and Master, have washed your feet, you should wash each other’s feet.
I have given you an example so that you may copy what I have done to
you.’
Students 4 to 7-
Resp Psalm: Ps 115:12-13. 15-18
R. Our blessing-cup is a communion with the blood of Christ.
How can I repay the Lord
for his goodness to me?
The cup of salvation I will raise;
I will call on the Lord’s name. R.
O precious in the eyes of the Lord
is the death of his faithful.
Your servant, Lord, your servant am I;
you have loosened my bonds. R.
A thanksgiving sacrifice I make:
I will call on the Lord’s name.
My vows to the Lord I will fulfil
before all his people. R.
Student 8-
2nd Reading (JB): 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians
Until the Lord comes, every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim his death.
This is what I received from the Lord, and in turn passed on to you: that on the same night that he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread, and thanked God for it and broke it, and he said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this as a memorial of me.’ In the same way he took the cup after supper, and said, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.’ Until the Lord comes, therefore, every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are proclaiming his death.
The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Prayer/Reflection/Action:
Student 9-
Fellow servants of Christ, on this night Jesus set an example for the disciples by washing their feet, an act of humble service. As these few people have their feet washed remember that strength and growth in God's reign come by lowly service such as this.
Five students will participate in a washing of feet while one student splashed water over their feet. Whilst this is happening a prayer is slowly said.
Student 10- Reflective prayer
Lord Jesus, washing the feet of others is not something that we naturally want to do. We all have trouble with humility and service, esteem and pride. Help us today to become less of ourselves and more of You. In Your Holy Name, we pray. Amen.
Go & Tell (Concluding Rites)
Dismissal:
Student 11- Closing prayer
Lord, we thank You for the gift of Your Son. May our entry into the mysteries of His life, death and resurrection give us the confidence to live with unshakeable faith in Your faithful and abiding love. We make this prayer to You in His name. Amen.
And may Almighty God bless us: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Concluding Hymn:
"You Are My All in All" ("Jesus, Lamb of God"), words and music: Dennis Jernigan
Liturgy songs-
Hearts on fire:
Verse 1
We come from ancient dreamtime,
From the bush, or by the sea.
We come from a thousand city streets,
We are the rich and lowly,
We are the poor and strong,
We come to share this moment,
Gathering here, singing one song
Chorus
With our hearts on fire with the love of Jesus
Hearts on fire, let’s spread the Word
Hearts on fire, feel the Spirit blazing
Hearts on fire
Called to live the Good News in this land
Setting hearts on fire, with our hearts on fire
Setting hearts on fire
Verse 2
We long to live in freedom, we yearn for unity
We dream of justice, joy and peace
Spirit fill us with your power
Jesus help us live your call
O Creator give us wisdom
So we will be Good News for all
Chorus
Verse 3
We are the voice of Jesus
We are His hearts and hands
We are His body in our land
Stand up! Live the story
To all the world proclaim
Go out to all creation
Lighting the fire, fanning the flames
Chorus
You Are My All In All lyrics
You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I'd be a fool
You are my all in all
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Taking my sin, my cross, my shame
Rising up again I bless Your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up
When I am dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I'd be a fool
You are my all in all
Taking my sin, my cross, my shame
Rising up again I bless Your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up
When I get dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all

Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
